On November 19, a group of seniors traveled to State Tech in Linn for a college visit. Attending the trip were Ashlynn Lewis, Hannah Mitchell, Joel Hunt, Hunter Tuggle, and Paxytn Jones. During the visit, students toured campus facilities and learned about many of the hands-on programs State Tech offers such as Agriculture Operations, Computer Networking & Cyber Security, Electrical Distribution Systems, Medical Radiologic Technology, Welding Technology, Physical Therapy Assistance and Utility Construction. They had the opportunity to ask questions about admissions, financial aid, and careers connected with these programs helping them explore future career paths and a clearer understanding of the training and opportunities available after high school.
This visit rounds out the Fall college visits that are a part of the RootEd program at LHS.

Carpenter’s Union Representative Matt Hurley visited the La Plata KTEC juniors and seniors to share insight into the opportunities available through the carpentry and skilled trades pathway. Hurley spoke about the value of apprenticeships, the importance of hands-on learning, and the wide range of career options within the Carpenters Union. His presentation offered real-world guidance to students exploring future careers, and many left with a greater understanding of how the trades can provide strong, rewarding career paths.
This opportunity was made available through the RootEd program.
