See what our next publications interview with Coach Fields---in the Spirit of Thanksgiving, see what he is Thankful for !
Thankfulness Interview By: Tanner, Dustin, Wyatt If you could invite three people to Thanksgiving dinner, who would they be and why? What would a "thankful Playlist” or "gratitude bucket list” look like for you? If you had to trade one of your favorite things to give joy to someone else, what would it be? What mistakes have you made that led to something positive? What is your favorite thing about working as a coach in La Plata, MO? If you had to write a thank-you letter to someone, who would it be and why? What's something you would take for granted that you'd miss if it were gone? Mr. Fields I would invite my Dad, Mom, and brother. My Dad passed away recently, and it would be a chance for us all to have a meal together again. I would say the things on my “gratitude bucket list” would be Family Friends Freedom Running water Heat/Air My job My car I would trade my TV if it brought joy to someone else. I made a mistake when I went to a college where none of my high school friends were going. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to make friends easily or how to even begin. It turns out that I ended up meeting some of my lifelong best friends there. They are some of my favorite people, and we still talk and get together when we can, even though we live in different places now. My favorite thing is getting to help kids succeed. There is nothing better than when an athlete uses what you taught them and they find success. As a coach, you hope that it helps them become a problem solver down the road. I would write it to my parents. They have taught me so much and have guided me into becoming the person that I am today. Even when I wasn’t the best child, they were still there to pick me up and teach me to problem solve instead of quitting on me. They are the reason that I am a teacher/coach today. They have inspired me so much by their actions, not only as my parents but as people. I think that I take heat and air conditioning for granted. It is not something that you think about until it is completely gone. After having them for so long, I am not sure how I would go without them. Coach Fields

Carpenter’s Union Representative Matt Hurley visited the La Plata KTEC juniors and seniors to share insight into the opportunities available through the carpentry and skilled trades pathway. Hurley spoke about the value of apprenticeships, the importance of hands-on learning, and the wide range of career options within the Carpenters Union. His presentation offered real-world guidance to students exploring future careers, and many left with a greater understanding of how the trades can provide strong, rewarding career paths.
This opportunity was made available through the RootEd program.
