A man charged with possessing methamphetamine in Adair County was arrested Monday in Macon County, six days after he skipped a court date he’d been warned about at the clerk’s office.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop B picked up Ira Alton Helton Jr., 62, at 11:55 a.m. on an Adair County warrant. He’s held without bond at the Adair County Jail.
Helton missed his first hearing Oct. 6. Two days later he walked into the clerk’s office asking about court, according to a docket note. The clerk gave him his new date, Oct. 20, told him to call his lawyer, and warned that missing again would likely bring a warrant.
He didn’t show Oct. 20. Judge Matthew Wilson ordered the warrant, with no bond.
