La Plata beat Northeast (Cairo) 17-16 in varsity softball Monday after the teams combined for 12 runs in the seventh inning.
La Plata led 13-8 after six innings. La Plata's line was 1-0-5-0-4-3-4, with 17 runs, 23 hits, and seven errors, according to the GameChanger box score posted on MaxPreps. Northeast's line was 0-1-0-0-7-0-8, with 16 runs, 11 hits, and three errors.
Paizley See, Emmagin Travis, Hailey Mitchell, Josie Ebeling, and Logann Hall, all of La Plata, combined for 19 of the team's 23 hits. See went 6-for-6 with three runs and four RBIs. Travis went 4-for-6 with a home run, three runs, four RBIs, and two stolen bases. Mitchell went 4-for-6 with a double and two RBIs. Ebeling went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Hall went 2-for-6 with a double and two RBIs.
Kinsley Jones, of La Plata, pitched all seven innings for the win. She allowed 16 runs, three of them earned, on 11 hits, walked four, and struck out two.
