Garage sales. Macon's fall citywide garage-sale weekend runs today and Saturday, according to the Macon Area Chamber of Commerce calendar. The Chamber listing says Friday sales run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday sales from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration closed Sept. 10. See the separate garage-sale weekend story.
Power of the Past. North Missouri Power of the Past continues today and Saturday at the Macon County Fairgrounds. The Chamber listing shows a Thursday through Saturday window ending at 10 p.m. Saturday. See the separate Power of the Past short.
County. The Macon County Commission sits Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the county website. The commission is not scheduled to meet Friday under that standing calendar. June through September commission minutes were still not posted as of Friday morning; the latest monthly PDF on the agendas page remains May 2026. The next standing session is Monday.

Farmers market. The Macon Area Farmer's Market is listed for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday downtown, according to the Chamber calendar.
City bids. Sealed bids for the city's 1998 fire engine remain open through 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28. Bids must be marked for the fire-engine sale and delivered to City Hall.
Blood drive. An American Red Cross blood drive is listed for 1:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at MACTEC Commons, 702 N. Missouri St. in Macon, according to the Chamber calendar.
Bevier and Callao. Bevier and Callao citywide garage sales are listed for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. Call 660-773-5314 to be listed on the Bevier map; setup in Bevier City Park is free, the Chamber listing says. See the separate Bevier-Callao brief.
Utilities. The Macon Board of Public Works met Sept. 22. The Sept. 22 agenda is still posted; minutes were not posted as of Friday morning.
City. Minutes from the Sept. 8 regular City Council meeting are still not posted. The council's next regular meeting is the second Tuesday in October.
City jobs. Street Department laborer, administrative secretary, city administrator, and police openings remain listed as open until filled.
Fuel. AAA's Missouri diesel average was $6.3098 a gallon Friday, off Thursday's $6.3292.
Roads. MoDOT Northeast still lists bridge maintenance with expected delays on U.S. 63 at the U.S. 36 interchange in Macon County. MoDOT's Sept. 21 to Oct. 2 planned-roadwork list for the Northeast District does not add new Macon County projects.
