The City of La Plata is accepting letters of interest from residents who want to fill the Board of Aldermen seat left vacant by the death of Alderman Perry.
Under city procedures and Missouri law, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen have authority to appoint someone to serve the first year of the unexpired two-year term.
To be eligible, applicants must be at least 21 years old, have lived on the east side of Gex Street in La Plata for more than one year, and be current on their taxes.
Interested residents should submit a letter of interest to City Clerk Dena Hodges. The next Board of Aldermen meeting is scheduled for April 14, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at La Plata City Hall — an open meeting that prospective applicants are encouraged to attend.
Contact City Clerk Hodges at 660-332-7166, extension 3, or stop by City Hall between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. with questions.
