Two Clarence residents hurt when SUV hydroplanes, overturns on U.S. 63 south of Macon

A 62-year-old Clarence man and a 62-year-old Clarence woman were hurt Tuesday afternoon when their SUV hydroplaned and overturned on U.S. 63 about 3 miles south of Macon.

The crash happened at 1:25 p.m., according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The man was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe south when it hydroplaned, traveled off the left side of the highway, and overturned, the patrol reported.

Macon County Ambulance took both to University Hospital, according to the report. The patrol listed the driver’s injuries as minor and the passenger’s injuries as moderate. Both were wearing safety devices, the report says.

The Tahoe was totaled. Still Towing removed it from the scene.

Trooper Tague of Troop B investigated. Trooper Willock, Commercial Vehicle Officer Harvey of the patrol, Macon County Ambulance, and Macon County Rescue assisted, according to the report.

The patrol’s public online report does not name the two people. It lists their ages, genders, hometown, and roles in the crash. The patrol stopped posting names on its online crash reports in November 2024. Two press associations and several news organizations sued the agency Oct. 16 in Cole County to restore them, as the Macon Chronicle reported Oct. 20.

On Oct. 28, a Macon woman was seriously hurt when the utility vehicle she was driving struck a deer and overturned near Anabel, the Chronicle reported.

The patrol’s incident number for the crash is 260465351.
